I was born in the year of 1929 in Jerusalem to a family of 7 children: five brothers and two sisters. My family came to Palestine from Baghdad, Iraq. In those days the British Mandate ruled in Palestine. We went through a lot of struggles and hardship with the British. I can still remember the days, when the demonstrations against the "White Book" took place on Jaffa St., and British policemen beat demonstrators. Remember as well, the underground activities of the Ezel-Group, the imprisonments that followed, and the British leaving - which culminated the War of Independence.  I took part in this war as a young soldier, and fought many battles. I was wounded in one of them. In 1954 the president Ben-Zvi’s wife, Rachel Yanait invited me to tell her about one of the battles I took part in, and I received a medal. Since I was born in Jerusalem I am familiar with the Jewish and Arab parts of the city, and during the years I have painted them both.  I painted more then 300 paintings, most of them oil on canvas.  On August 1997 I had an exhibition at the “Amalia Arbel Gallery in Tel-Aviv”. On September 1998, I had another exhibition at the “Artists House” in Jerusalem. Both galleries are very well known in Israel.
