I was born in the year of 1929 in Jerusalem to a family of
7 children: five brothers and two sisters. My family came to Palestine from
Baghdad, Iraq. In those days the British Mandate ruled in Palestine. We went
through a lot of struggles and hardship with the British. Remember as well, the underground activities of the Ezel-Group, the imprisonments that followed, and the British leaving - which culminated the War of Independence. I took part in this war as a young soldier, and
fought many battles. I was wounded in one of them. I painted more then 300 paintings, most of them oil on canvas. On August 1997 I had an exhibition at the Amalia Arbel Gallery in Tel-Aviv. On September 1998, I had another exhibition at the Artists House in Jerusalem. Both galleries are very well known in Israel. |
