YUDIT POLLAK

I
met Yudit in November 1971 when I started to work for the Israeli Television,
where she was a librarian. When we first met I realized that she was an
open-minded person, who was good with words. She read a lot, knew a lot,
had a good sense of humor, and had the ability to remember and relate funny
stories.
Yudit
was very good with words and very honest. This made it easier for her to
say exactly what she meant and never be afraid of the consequences. I believe
that all of her friends and acquaintances respected her for that.
Yudit
enjoyed travelling. She was always going somewhere, coming back from somewhere
or planning to go somewhere. She reveled in the excitement of it all.
But
first and foremost, Yudit loved her friends. She loved to have them over
at her house for a drink and a bite, as she also loved and appreciated
good food.
In
private moments, and especially during the last difficult year, she told
me how grateful she was for her friend's love and support, how lucky she
felt to have her friends around her, how much she cared for them and loved
them.
The
library, that Yudit was in charge of, was for many, especially her friends
at work - almost an institution. A place to drop in, find out what's new,
have a small or a serious talk, and hear the latest best popular jokes.
In
the last year, when Yudit could no longer go to work, I found myself more
then once (out of a habit) on my way to the library. It usually took me
a second to realize that Yudit is no longer there. It will never be the
same again.
We
shall miss you and your friendship.
