JEWISH MEMORIAL CENTER’S POLICY
REGULATIONS
Dignified and suitable commemoration should respect and consider the many sensitivities involved in such an emotion-filled topic.
To ensure this respect and consideration of people’s feelings, definite regulations must be made and kept strictly.
The regulations were determined after most aspects were considered, and we hope that they will be accepted, and understood.
The right to be commemorated
The right to be commemorated
on the Jewish Memorial Center is preserved to every Jew, male or female,
or who was married to a Jew, was known as a Jew, or considered themselves
as Jews while alive.
Definitions
Free Memorial:
A memorial line includes:
Name, place and date of birth and death.
Basic Memorial:
Basic Memorial is a memorial that contains only names, maiden name, parent’s names, and dates of birth and death.
A Combined Memorial:
A Combined Memorial is a Basic Memorial to which a biography, eulogies, memories, photographs, images, graphics or documents - may be added.
Self-prepared Memorial:
Commemoration prepared
in advance.
Entitled to commemorate:
1. Every person or group
of people, institution, or entity, are entitled to
commemorate every Jewish person, group of people, or a Jewish community
-
in the Basic Memorial.
2. The defined family
members are entitled to commemorate a departed in a
Combined Memorial: children, parents, siblings, grandparents, or any other
descendants.
3. Combined Memorial
by other family members, friends or acquaintances will be
accepted under the following conditions:
a. The creator of the
memorial is a legal inheritor or was a legal guardian of the
deceased.
b. The creator of the
memorial states, that to the best of his knowledge, the
deceased has no other family member, or if there are, they would not oppose
to
the memorial as will appear on the JMC.
c. Every person
(even not a family member), institution or entity, are entitled to
commemorate every Jewish person, a Jewish group of people or Jewish
communities, that perished in the Holocaust. In this case, the commemorated
will appear in the Victims of the Holocaust category, of the Jewish Memorial
Center.
d. Every legal or formal
entity or institution is entitled to commemorate every
Jewish person, group of Jewish people or Jewish communities.
e. Every group of people
is entitled to commemorate every Jewish person, group
of Jewish people or Jewish communities. In this case, at least two members
of
the group need to be identified.
Self-prepared Memorial:
Every person is entitled
to prepare his own memorial. One can also prepare the memorial according
to the JMC’S regulations and designs, and even receive a CD with the final
memorial. However, this memorial will be entered in the JMC - only after
a death announcement is received and confirmed.
Victims of the Holocaust:
The ‘Victims of the
Holocaust’ is part of the Jewish Memorial Center, to commemorate Jews that
were perished in the Holocaust and not after October 1945, as a result
of the Holocaust.
Identification:
1. Every creator of
a memorial will be fully identified. Identification will include a
full name, address and phone number (fax & E-mail if exists).
2. Every entity or institution
will include the name, address, phone number (fax &
E-mails if exists), and at least one person’s full details.
Procedures:
1. The creator will fill a required form.
2. The memorial will
be submitted to the Jewish Memorial Center in the English
language.
3. The submitted text
will not be edited. It is recommended to spell check the
text.
4. JMC is not responsible
and will not be liable for the contents of the submitted
memorials.
5. Memorials will not
be accepted if their content will contain entries that may be
offensive, controversial, or refer to any of the following subjects:
a. Opinions about others.
b. Political opinions.
c. Opinions about religions,
countries, people, ethnic groups, entities &
institutions.
d. Racial expressions.
e. Sexual subjects.
f. Illegal or controversial
subjects.
g. Commemorators that
will send in a Self-prepared Memorial will need to be fully
identified.
6. JMC saves the right
to deny any memorial requested, with no need to explain
its reasons.
7. JMC will not accept
memorials of people who were convicted or proven to
commit any of the following crimes:
Political
or ideological assassination.
Collaboration with the Nazis and their collaborators.
Genocide.
Design:
The respectability of
the web pages in this kind of web site, dictates a strict and uniform design.
Therefore it is possible to select memorial designs only from the described
plans.
Complaints:
1. Complaints will be
accepted only from people who are entitled to commemorate
according to the JMC’s policy.
2. Since there is every
intention to prevent any kind of aggravation or sorrow, a
memorial will be changed into a Basic Memorial without text (as soon as
possible), whenever
a complaint is received concerning a memorial’s content.
3. When receiving a
complaint concerning the accuracy of a Basic Memorial, the
memorial will be removed (as soon as possible) until details are cleared
up.
4. JMC will notify the
creator of a memorial (as soon as possible via
E-mail), about any complaint received. The creator commits hereby to respond
of every notice within 30 days.
5. If the creator of
a memorial, and a person lodging a complaint, do not reach an
agreement on the memorial’s content within 30 extra days, the memorial
will
appear constantly in the JMC only in the Basic Memorial version (without
text).
There will be no refunds in this case.
Agreements must be sent to JMC mutually.
JMC will not save or backup material after more then 90 days.
Reassignment of a memorial after 60 days will be at an additional cost, and all material may need to be submitted again.
6. If the creator of
a memorial and the person lodging the complaint do not reach
an agreement on the memorial’s accuracy, within 30 extra days, the memorial
will be removed from the JMC’s web site.
There will be no refunds in this case.
Agreements must be sent to JMC mutually.
JMC will not save or backup material after more then 90 days.
Reassignment of a memorial after 60 days will be at an additional cost, and all material may be need to be submitted again.
7. It is understood
that JMC has no obligation to read the memorials submitted.
However, it is agreed that a memorial that will include improper content
will be
changed immediately into the Basic Memorial.
There will be no refunds in this case.
JMC will not save or backup material after more then 90 days.
Reassignment of a memorial
after 60 days will be with an additional cost, and all material may be
need to be submitted again.
Cancellations:
There will be no refunds
when canceling a memorial.

our policy, or any of the content of this site, you are kindly requested
to leave the site.
